How it’ll work

Numbers

Each 2 day school will accept up to 12 participants, not including youth leaders/workers.
Participants will be split into small groups and assigned archaeology students to mentor and supervise acitvities.
We will be flexible about organisation, taking into account the needs of participants, but will try to keep a high ratio of supporting students to participants.
Student volunteers will have:

  • PVG scheme membership;
  • First aid training;
  • Child protection training.
Environment

The school will use locations in Pittencrieff Park as well as the Abbey Graveyard and the Carnegie Museum and Library.
Outdoor sites will all be securely fenced off, but visible and approachable to the public.
All sites are on level or gently sloping ground and present few accessibility problems.
Public toilets are available in Pittencrieff Park and the Museum and Library.
Young Archaeologist Club members aged 8-16 may participate some days.
